Environment interaction: Control Panel
Summary
Control panels are a way to allow for a broader depth of tactics. They allow for doors to be opened or closed, changing the battlefield on the fly. Control panels can be damaged (which will change the state of the door one time per panel) by anyone, or hacked by characters who possess the "slice panel" ability; this ability allows for opening and closing of doors without damaging the panel. Panels that are damaged are disabled, no longer allowing slicing, or control, of the door. Each side of the door has a control panel. The control panel on the other side of the door can still be sliced until it is damaged. Doors have significant health and can also be damaged. With enough damage, they can be broken allowing for movement through the threshold once more. It may take multiple turns to destroy a door as it is based on door health and damage output.
Strategy examples
Control panels can be used for flanking enemies, to stop enemy movement, or so the player can change positions without triggering an enemy overwatch.
They can also be used for traps, such as breaking out a caged wild beast and then closing the door, trapping enemies inside with it.
Interactions
Slice Panel - Able to be used in close range by characters with the "slice" ability. This flips the state of the door.
Damage Panel - Able to be done by anyone, flips the state of the door and destroys the panel rendering it inoperable. The attack is done in character's attack range.
Damage Door - Able to be done by anyone, will take a lot to finally break it. Once broken it leaves a permanently open entryway. The attack is done in character's attack range.
